Job Description & Program Overview

 Bank of America is seeking a Summer Analyst  for the Real Estate Structured Finance Group (RESF), which is the commercial real estate finance origination and distribution group within Bank of America’s Global Mortgages & Securitized Products Group (GMSP) within the Global Markets division. 

The Global Markets business offers sales and trading services, including research, to institutional clients across fixed-income, credit, currency, commodity, and equity businesses. Global Markets product coverage includes securities and derivative products in the primary and secondary markets.

GMSP is responsible for originating, structuring and securitizing bonds backed by various types of collateral to provide liquidity and funding to a wide range of financial institutions, public companies, and financial sponsors; providing secured asset-based financing; advising financial institutions on asset and platform acquisitions and dispositions; and opportunistic lending situations.

RESF focuses on the origination, structuring and distribution of Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) which are typically backed by Bank of America originated loans collateralized by all commercial real estate property types across the US and Canada. RESF also focuses on commercial mortgage balance sheet lending, commercial real estate backed CLOs and securities underwriting for institutional clients.  RESF’s team is based in New York with additional offices in Charlotte, Newport Beach, Seattle, Atlanta, and Austin.

As a RESF Summer Associate, over the 10-week program, you will be offered hands-on work experience on live transactions, junior and senior mentorship, senior management exposure and client exposure. You will also have the opportunity to participate in formal training and orientation, speaker events, and volunteer and networking opportunities along with all other Summer Associates under Global Markets.

LOCATION: One Bryant Park, New York

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial modeling for commercial real estate properties
  • Perform credit analysis and market research on financing opportunities
  • Present potential transactions to senior management
  • Create presentations for CMBS bond investors
  • Conduct property site visits
  • Maintain origination pipeline for senior originators

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students must be pursuing a Bachelors degree or a Bachelors direct to Masters degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation timeframe between December 2025 and June 2026
  • 3.2 minimum GPA preferred
  • Preferred course work: commercial real estate, corporate finance, commercial or investment banking
  • Strong financial modeling skills specifically with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong business writing acumen
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires critical thinking and problem solving
  • Must be collaborative and comfortable communicating in a team-oriented environment
  • Highly motivated and able work independently
