The team:
The Sustainable Banking Solutions Group (SBSG) sits within our Global Corporate and Investment Bank and delivers sustainability expertise to clients and our internal stakeholders. The team helps structure and execute transactions where sustainability factors are a component of the value proposition for investors. In coordination with investment banking, corporate banking, and capital markets partners, SBSG provides also specific market insights and investor perspectives on how sustainability impacts a client’s cost of capital and ability to execute on their strategic priorities.
Programme Overview
Our Sustainable Banking Solutions Group (SBSG) Off Cycle program is designed to offer you a broad and exciting experience working directly within the SBSG team, whilst still benefiting from exposure to and connectivity with the other groups throughout the Off Cycle programme.
Training and Development
Your training and development are our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the program in addition to on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities:
As an Off-Cycle analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Work closely with Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Capital Markets teams on client coverage and origination, on a broad array of ESG-related topics including on ESG financing solutions
Develop a strong understanding on how investors integrate ESG in their investment decisions
Keep up to date with ESG trends, industry and market best practices, both regulatory and across sectors Help deliver high-quality, timely, focused analysis related to ESG issues such a transitions plans Support the preparation of marketing material and sustainable financing presentations to clients
Assist in sustainable finance projects including framework drafting and engagement with Second Party Opinion Providers
Work on live transactions and interact with clients and professionals from across the bank as you build your network and experience
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to be in their penultimate or ultimate year of study pursuing a degree from an accredited school or university preferable in or related to Sustainable Finance, Environmental Management, Environmental Economics or equivalent
- Candidates are required to be a graduating between April 2025 and June 2026
- Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Must be available to join the programme from January 2025 for a 6 month internship
- Fluency in English is essential for all roles and the local language is advisable for regional roles.
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Applications are accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines such as the arts and humanities, as well as numerically focused subjects such as economics, mathematics, science and engineering. There is however a preference for those studying Environmental Management, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance or equivalent
- You will need to demonstrate drive, innovation, and a genuine interest in sustainable finance
- Teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, plus creativity are key qualities, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and interact with a variety of people
- Displays analytical and problem-solving skills and basic understanding of sustainability issues
Desired:
- Competent user of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
