Job Description & Program Overview

Bank of America provides comprehensive wealth management solutions to affluent and high-net-worth clients through Merrill, the Private Bank and Global Strategy & Enterprise Platforms teams.

As part of the Global Strategy and Enterprise Platforms organization, the Investment Solutions Group strives to provide world-class investment strategies, platforms, solutions and support for clients across all wealth management lines of business. Through a highly effective Investment Process, they provide investment solutions across all product platforms and asset classes - equity, fixed income and alternative investments including structured products and specialty assets - through a comprehensive due diligence and oversight process for client portfolios.  They also coordinate the investment strategy for wealth management advisors and clients, harmonizing and distilling market themes, identifying trends and supporting our client-focused investing approach.  Our Wealth Management Summer Analyst Program is designed to offer candidates the opportunity to work in various positions within our Investment Solutions Group.

Interns will be placed in a specific area within the Investment Solutions Group:


  • Chief Investment Office (CIO):
    • Providing thought leadership on wealth management, investment strategy and global markets and delivering strategic and tactical investment advice and in-depth guidance on portfolio strategies. This includes working with the Equities and Fixed Income teams. In addition, there is a strong partnership with our Sustainable and Impact Investment Strategy team which is responsible for driving sustainability through the investment process including thought leadership, product offerings, client experience, portfolio construction, field support, and client engagement. The team provides the ESG subject matter expertise to ensure consistency and connection across Wealth Management and to the broader firm
    • Delivering portfolio management solutions by developing and maintaining robust frameworks, services and tools to deliver goals-based wealth management (e.g. asset allocation and portfolio construction; all asset classes), and managing discretionary single asset and multi asset portfolios
    • Conducting due diligence, which includes investment manager research, sourcing, and selection utilizing a strong investment governance process including the ongoing monitoring of traditional and alternative strategies
    • Solutions oversight and data analytics to support processes across the Investment Solutions Group and promote the development and sharing of data, modeling, resources and overall intellectual processing
  • Investment Products and Platforms:
    • Program management and platform development of investment advisory programs for delivery through wealth management channels
    • Overseeing and managing the availability of third-party investment products and managers including mutual funds, exchange traded products, separately managed account strategies, and money market funds
    • Delivering capital market expertise to advisors through advice, trading, and solutions across platforms providing best execution, market access/diversification opportunities
    • Portfolio implementation for Merrill Lynch, Bank of America Private Bank and Merrill Edge through Managed Account Advisors, our registered investment advisor and indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America
  • Alternative Investments and Specialty Asset Management:
    • Sourcing, originating, and providing ongoing product and platform management for alternative investment products including hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, and physical precious metals offerings
    • Distinctive capabilities focused on the unique requirements of five different types of nonfinancial assets: Farm and Ranch, Timberland, Oil and Gas, Real Estate and Private Business
  • Specialist Team:
    • In partnership with the CIO, assisting advisors to acquire, retain, and grow assets by implementing asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment guidance to meet clients’ goals, based on CIO views
    • Field-based specialists are responsible for rotating through their branch office coverage, partnering with Market Executives, Resident Directors and Advisors to provide education on our investment solutions, promote CIO guidance (as mentioned above) and support client/prospect meetings. ISG Specialists are strongly encouraged to partner across the organization to deliver holistic solutions based on client needs. This partnering often leads to referrals between ISG specialists
    • Home-office based sales desk team members both handle inbound Advisor and CA inquiries as well as making proactive outbound sales contacts to build relationships, identify business opportunities and conduct FA book reviews. Also, the sales desks partner with their field-based colleagues in an external/internal relationship to support Advisors and partnering with field leadership
  • ISG Chief Operating Office:
    • Develops ISG business strategy and tactical priorities, management routines, leader engagement and channel alignment of strategy
    • Drives strategic business including enterprise-wide initiatives in support of ISG objectives
    • Maintains key performance indicators, business specific or company initiative portfolios, technology funding prioritization and centralized risk and business management functions

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree program student with a graduation date between December 2023 and June 2024
  • Demonstrated record of achievement, such as extracurricular activities or leadership roles
  • Finance knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to think independently
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail

 

Preferred:

  • 3.2 minimum GPA preferred
  • Technical skills such as Excel and PowerPoint
