Global Markets Operations (GMO), Africa Summer Analyst

Our Global Markets Operations (GMO) Summer Analyst opportunity offers an invaluable opportunity to gain some hands-on paid work experience at a top tier financial institution. The programme will provide you with a thorough introduction to the Operations division and financial services industry. 

What You’ll Do

In partnership with our lines of business, GMO develops innovative strategies and solutions designed to enhance our clients’ performance and supports clients in reaching their business goals. 

Over the summer you will gain exposure to a range of vital business tasks which may include, but not be limited to, settlement, clearing and reconciliation of processes, trade validations, process review and improvement, and data management, collection and analysis. You will participate in work that has a real impact on our Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office Operations. You will also gain an understanding of the products that we trade, and how we manage them operationally to ensure we are meeting our clients’ needs.

Throughout the programme you will be supported by your manager to help you make the most of your summer internship experience. There will also be a chance to meet and interact with a range of employees, thus building your professional network.

You will be with a team within one of the EMEA Global Markets Operations (GMO) lines of business, or the Transformation & Change team:

  • EMEA Markets Onboarding, Client Services and Pre-Trade Activities
  • EMEA Fixed Income, Currencies, Commodities (FICC) and Derivatives Core Operations
  • EMEA Securities Core Operations
  • EMEA Global Markets Shared Operations
  • EMEA GBAM Operations Transformation & Change

Qualifications

  • Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation timeframe between June 2022 and June 2023
  • On track for a minimum of 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
  • A clear motivation for the Operations division
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills and capacity to learn quickly
  • Detail focused
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential
  • Team player
  • Client-service oriented
  • A thirst for knowledge and understanding of the business
  • Results driven
  • Competent in the Microsoft Office software suite
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
