2020 Strategy & Management Program: Market Leadership

Job Description & Program Overview

The Strategy & Management Program – Market Leadership Track develops future leaders while engaging them in challenging and business critical assignments in both non-client facing and client facing roles. Leaders will eventually own responsibility for a dynamic, multi-billion market covering a specific geographic area. Through the experience, candidates will have access and exposure to senior leaders to guide their growth and development. 

Recent MBA level candidates experience a 2-year program in various areas of the Consumer Banking organization.

The Market Leadership track provides exposure to non-client facing and client facing roles in the Consumer Banking & Small Business Organization. During the first rotation participants spend six months developing a deep understanding of the Consumer Banking & Investments business through work in The Academy for the Financial Center Channel. During the second rotation participants develop an understanding of the client facing manager role to eventually own responsibility for a market. Additionally, this role provides an opportunity for candidates to broaden their knowledge of financial products and services, gain a strong foundation in operational procedures, and hone their leadership skills.

Participants begin their Market Leadership rotation in an 8-week dedicated session to set them up for success as a Market Leader. This time allows for on the job learning in a Financial Center market developing acumen around:

  • Financial Roles & Routines
  • Financial Center Operations
  • Financial Center Management
  • Leadership of Financial Center Managers

Your training and development is our top priority with on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout. As a program associate, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Applying your financial acumen and analytical skills to support a variety of projects as required by our customers and business leaders
  • Owning customer experience and risk in a designated geographical consumer market
  • Building a customer-centric, digital, and operations focused culture with front line teammates.
  • Collaborating with partners across the organization to achieve operational and performance excellence
  • Driving performance results through coaching service behaviors
  • Holding teams accountable to deepen client relationships by building robust relationships and following established sales effectiveness processes
  • Identifying solutions to meet customer’s needs

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong drive for results; succeed in a fast-paced, empowered, and collaborative environment; enjoy teamwork and partnering with others; possess basic financial acumen, excellent organizational and analytical skills; and have the ability to build/design and execute strategy.

Required Skills

  • Candidates are required to be an MBA graduate from an accredited business school or university with a graduation time frame between December 2019 and June 2020
  • 3–5 years pre-MBA work experience with a demonstrated record of achievement
  • Relevant work history that reflects experience in managing others, delegating tasks and resolving conflicts
  • 100% geographic mobility/flexibility at end of program 

Desired candidates may possess a relevant work history that reflects:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Sales/Retail Experience OR Minimum of 2 Years Sales Management Experience (e.g. banking sales, business-to-business or consultative outside sales)
  • Multi-unit sales management or regional/market banking management experience with a large span of control
  • Have a strong intellectual curiosity about processes, techniques, and systems.
  • Ability to influence leaders and teammates
  • Ability to work closely with partners towards shared objectives
  • Comfortable to speak and influence in large audience settings
  • Strong time management and being able to effectively manage priorities
  • Strong statistical/analytical background
  • Ability to navigate in a highly matrixed environment
  • Proven, strong results in areas of sales, service, leadership in a customer-centric environment
  • Licensures / Training such as: Series 7 & 66, Small Business Credit Training, Underwriting etc.

 

Locations: Positions will take place initially in Charlotte, NC for six months with an additional rotation in a city that candidates can work with program managers on. Candidates are required to be 100% geographically flexible.
