Job Description & Program Overview
Merrill Lynch provides a high-touch client experience through a network of approximately 15,000 client facing Financial Advisors to our affluent customers with a personal wealth profile of at least $250,000 of investable assets. We help our clients pursue their personal and financial goals, uncover concerns and priorities, and develop portfolios that align resources to their needs.
Our 10-week internship is designed to provide interns a foundation in understanding the financial services industry, the Merrill Lynch business and our financial advisor career paths. You will gain exposure to key aspects of wealth management, including investments, relationship building, digital capabilities and client support.
Training & Development
Your development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the program in addition to on the job support, as well as educational speaker events and mentorship throughout. The internship experience also includes a national curriculum that provides web based learning/technical training and professional development opportunities.
As a summer intern in the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Track, your key tasks and responsibilities may include:
- Conducting product, market and client research
- Developing business acumen and understanding of the markets
- Providing dedicated administrative and sales support to Financial Advisors
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients; providing exceptional client service
- Assisting in business development and marketing
- Reporting and analysis
- Completing weekly learning activities and ad-hoc projects
Qualifications
- Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation timeframe between December 2018 – June 2019 (juniors)
- 3.0 GPA preferred
- Demonstrated record of achievement
- Entrepreneurial mindset and motivation to succeed in a client-focused environment
- Confident and engaging presence
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Technical skills such as Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are advantageous
- Strong interest in becoming a financial advisor
