Job Description & Program Overview

Our apprentice programme starts in October 2021, you will join on of our Chief Technology Organisation teams in a full time role whilst studying for a three year Digital Technology Degree. You’ll spend 80% of your time working alongside experienced colleagues, learning relevant and valuable skills, contributing to exciting projects whilst being exposed to cutting-edge technology and seeing first-hand how first-class organisations operate systems and manage their technology infrastructure. The remaining 20% of your time you’ll follow an established apprenticeship programme run by our partner, Ada College, graduating after three years with a BSC Degree in Digital and Technology Solutions.

Apprentices evolve during the program based on their career aspirations, and depending on how quickly their technical and soft skills develop. We encourage apprentices to take advantage of employee networks, mentorship and all other resources made available to them to accelerate their career.

Successful apprentices will continuously relate what they are learning with their work at Bank of America, as they progress through their degree program.

 

As an apprentice, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Working as part of the Network Operations team responsible for providing reactive troubleshooting for the entire global network as well as ongoing general maintenance and improvement initiatives
  • Partner with existing team members to become proficient in the key functions associated with a role in the team;

 

-         Analyse and manage complex production issues

-         Make timely decisions on resolutions / escalations to ensure business impacts are minimised

-         Identify / manage and mitigate risks within the operational environment

-         Provide an escalation point between the business technology groups, line of businesses and vendors

-         Ensure appropriate network monitoring tools are in place and are effectively managed to assist in fault diagnostics

  • Lean how to identify opportunities to automate processes and routines, and work with existing team members to create code and script

 

Essential and desired competencies

  • Show demonstrable evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills
  • Display clear motivation for exploring a Technology career within financial services, and a specific interest in Technology Infrastructure
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
  • Display evidence of strong team-work, leadership and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Logical mind-set and keenness in solving technical problems
  • Interest and willingness to learn about the power of automation, as well as willingness to learn coding and scripting skills
  • An interest in working in a global team
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential

 

Qualifications

  • Hold or predicted to achieve at least 3 A levels/BTEC or equivalent with a minimum of 104 UCAS points
  • Have at least a grade C or 5 in Maths and English Language GCSE (4 will not be accepted) or equivalent
  • Been a resident of the UK for the past 3 years
  • Not in full-time education when starting the apprenticeship
  • Have the right to work and remain in the UK indefinitely
  • Spend at least 50% of your working hours in England over the duration of the apprenticeship
  • Have not completed a qualification or apprenticeship at the same level or lower which provided you with substantially the same skills or training as you would gain through this apprenticeship with Bank of America
